Come learn and express yourself in a series of workshops from Slowfire Oak Park designed to spark memory and spur narrative. You're invited to attend any or all sessions. See the schedule below to register for each session.
July 13: Mixed Media Story Quilts
Honoring artist Faith Ringgold, we will be creating story quilts that outline imaginite stories and symbols. Story quilts were used in the past as modes of recording history. Using color, texture and pattern, we will tell stories that can be remembered forever. The materials we will work with are: paper, oil pastels, pencil, color pencil, in order to create a mixed media piece.

About Josslyn Baron
Josslyn Baron graduated from Dominican University with a Bachelor of Arts in both Painting/Drawing and Psychology. During her time at Dominican University, she was a Painting/Drawing Teaching Assistant, a Behavioral Statistics Teaching Assistant, and a Writing Tutor. Throughout her classes, she explored a multitude of mediums but continues to hold oil paint as her favorite artistic medium. Josslyn very much enjoys using art as a form of self-expression, which paved the way to her perusal of a career in art therapy. Some of her favorite artists are Frida Kahlo, Celia Paul, Kehinde Wiley, Emilio Villalba, and many more!
