Program Description

Event Details

Have you ever wanted a way to let people see your creativity, express your thought? This three-part workshop will teach you how to make your own zines and chapbooks; providing examples of various types of style, construction, and content you can focus on as a creator; and, how technology can assist with self-publishing endeavors.

This first workshop on March 12 will discuss what can be done with zines/chapbooks from a historical, political, philosophical, and literary perspective. Patrons will also begin the brainstorming process for their own zine/chapbook. For the second part of the workshop on March 19, participants will walk away with the beginnings of a zine (or a complete one if they work quickly!) in either digital or traditional form, and a greater understanding of how they can express themselves creatively and/or affect change through self-publishing. For the last workshop on March 26, participants will share their creations with each other.

Registration for the second and third workshop will open after the first workshop has ended and will be limited to those who attended the first workshop.

The Makery is located on the third floor of the Main Library.
