Program Description

Event Details

The Oak Park Public Library, Trinity Pierce of Chicago Region Trees Initiative and the Village of Oak Park Forestry Supervisor Grant Jones invite you for a Spring evening of tree appreciation.  We’ll learn about the trees in our neighborhood, the economic, environmental, and health benefits of trees, and ways to support green spaces. Additionally, we'll take care of our own well-being as we listen and then stroll outside near the Dole Library branch, home to a diverse collection of trees.

Trinity Pierce is the Chicago Region Trees Initiative senior stewardship manager at The Morton Arboretum. She collaborates with community organizations and members to increase awareness and foster action through plantings and ongoing care in order to grow a more diverse, more abundant, and more equitably distributed urban forest. A Certified Arborist, Pierce holds a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Michigan with a background in history, ecological restoration, and urban green space reconciliation.

Grant Jones, Forestry Supervisor for the Village of Oak Park, brings a proactive, modern approach to urban canopy management. Alongside Public Works Director Rob Sproule, he presented at the 2025 APWA PWX Conference on how Oak Park goes beyond traditional forestry practices such as pruning, planting, and removals. Jones holds a Master of Horticulture from the University of Michigan and specializes in plant diagnostics, teaching, research, tree risk assessment, integrated pest management, urban forest management, and utility line clearance.
