Program Description
Event Details
Join us for an artist talk featuring Bethany Cordero, Jill Obermaier, Cindy Trim, and curator/artist Betty Young Kim, artists who helped facilitate Encoded Memories, a community-based exhibition that explores time, place, and memory through shared imagery. Discussions will center on the exhibition and touch on the individual artist’s process and relationship to the community.
Drawing from Oak Park Public Library’s Special Collections archives (Philander Barclay Collection, Hemingway Family Collection, and Frank Pinc Collection), found images via the internet, and shared images from the Oak Park community, the exhibition reflects the layered experiences of our community across generations. Works on view include prints created in DIY workshops held earlier this year, as well as works from the participating artists, weaving together histories both distant and recent. Together, these pieces celebrate the resilience, care, and tenacity of our Oak Park community, past and present.
