About TechGirlz
TechGirlz is a program of CompTIA Spark, a 501(c)3 nonprofit and social impact arm of CompTIA, that inspires middle school girls to explore the possibilities of technology to empower their future careers. TechGirlz is accomplishing its mission through the creation of free, fun, interactive “TechShopz” led by industry professionals, community leaders, and students. Workshop curriculum is shared for free with companies, organizations, schools, and community groups so they can inspire girls around the world with technology. Their vision is to create a world where girls have a lifelong passion and confidence in their use of technology throughout their careers.
Event Details
In this TechGirlz podcasting workshop, students in grades 5-8 will learn how to make their stories engaging and use sound to put their listeners into the aural environment of their story. They will learn how to accomplish this through music, sound effects or sounds gathered from the environment of their story. This workshop plan familiarizes students with podcasting software, such as Audacity or Garageband, followed by creating a simple, personal podcast recording. (Requires a download of Audacity (preferred) or GarageBand; headphones with mics attached are preferred or headphones and external microphones needed for each user.)
