About TechGirlz
TechGirlz is a program of CompTIA Spark, a 501(c)3 nonprofit and social impact arm of CompTIA, that inspires middle school girls to explore the possibilities of technology to empower their future careers. TechGirlz is accomplishing its mission through the creation of free, fun, interactive “TechShopz” led by industry professionals, community leaders, and students. Workshop curriculum is shared for free with companies, organizations, schools, and community groups so they can inspire girls around the world with technology. Their vision is to create a world where girls have a lifelong passion and confidence in their use of technology throughout their careers.
Event Details
In this workshop, students in grades 5-8 will observe that infographics are often used to raise awareness or sell products in social media, and are more easily searched and viewed on the Pinterest platform. Students will learn the difference between good and bad research, gather information on a topic of their choosing, and then use a free, online tool called Piktochart to make an infographic from the data collected. (Free account with Piktochart required.)
