Join us for a conversation with Esther Manheimer, the mayor of Asheville, North Carolina, about her city's process for passing and implementing reparations for Black residents. We'll also talk with Asheville's Equity and Inclusion Director, Brenda Mills, and Councilmember Sage Turner. We'll consider what Oak Park might learn from Asheville should our village explore the prospect of local reparations for Black residents. This conversation will be moderated by Oak Park resident Christian Harris from Walk the Walk.

About Esther Manheimer
Esther Manheimer has been the mayor of Asheville since 2013 and is currently serving her third term. She is a longtime Asheville resident and was born in Denmark. Manheimer is also an attorney who specializes in land use and commercial litigation.

About Brenda Mills
Recently appointed the Equity and Inclusion Director, Brenda Mills is a veteran City of Asheville employee and the former Neighborhood and Community Engagement Manager.
