Event Details

Chicago Blues Hall of Fame inductee Donna Herula will sing and play acoustic blues slide guitar and will be joined by Marc Edelstein on upright bass and Tony Wittrock on acoustic guitar/mandolin for a fun show. They will perform songs of the Deep South that developed into Chicago Blues, including Mississippi Delta Blues, Hill Country Blues, Classic Blues, Memphis Blues, and early Chicago Blues. They will also talk about the artists that made these music styles popular. In addition, they will play original songs from Donna’s award-winning blues album Bang at the Door which won Best Acoustic Blues Album at the 2022 Independent Blues Awards.   

About Donna Herula Trio
Donna Herula is an award-winning blues and Americana singer, songwriter, resonator slide guitarist, and Chicago Blues Hall of Fame inductee.  Playing a variety of blues styles, her songwriting tips the hat to the tradition while creating a fresh, contemporary perspective on blues and roots music. In 2022, Donna won Best Traditional Blues Artist and her album Bang at the Door won Best Acoustic Blues Album at the 2022 Independent Blues Awards. Her original song “Bang at the Door” also won Best AAA/Alternative Song at the 2022 International Acoustic Music Awards.  

Donna’s music received rave reviews from all over the world (e.g., Australia, France, Italy, Spain, Croatia, Holland, Hungary, UK). Her album was listed on numerous “best of” music lists including the Living Blues Magazine Top 50 Albums of the year, and it charted #1 on the Acoustic Blues Album Best of 2021 List (Roots Music Report). Multiple songs from her album were played on the BBC and her original song “Can’t Wait to See My Baby” was on the Top 15 Rack of Blues (most played songs) on SiriusXM’s BB King’s Bluesville for 2 months. The Donna Herula Trio has performed at numerous blues, folk, and music festivals throughout the US as well as at the Lucerne Blues Festival in Switzerland.
