Planning and talking about the end-of-life process can be difficult, but it also can be empowering and beneficial for you and your family. There are many factors to consider, such as the extent of medical intervention and when to discontinue life-extending treatments. Whatever you choose is okay, but without a plan or outlined wishes, the end-of-life process can often be confusing, frustrating, and even agonizing for patients and their families. Join the conversation about alleviating suffering at the end of life with Oak Park End-of-Life Options Coalition Co-chair Teresa Powell and member Nora Natof.

About Teresa Powell & Nora Natof

Teresa Powell has a Masters of Public Health (MPH) and served 2 terms as the elected Village Clerk of Oak Park.  She is a long-time member and newly appointed Co-chair of the Oak Park End-of-Life Options Coalition. Nora Natof is a retired geriatric nurse. The Oak Park End-of-Life Options group is an action team of Compassion and Choices, a national nonprofit organization that is co-leading a statewide coalition to support authorization of medical aid in dying in Illinois as a treatment option to alleviate suffering at the end of life. The group works to normalize discussions around death and encourages community members to think about and document what they would like for the end of their life and let their family and physicians know their wishes
