Diwali Diya and Lantern Activity
This year, Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, is on November 12. At the heart of this vibrant and widely celebrated festival are diyas, traditional oil lamps, and lanterns or Khandala which hold deep symbolism and cultural significance.
These traditional lights represent the victory of light over darkness, symbolizing hope, spirituality, and the triumph of good over evil in this widely celebrated festival. Diyas and lanterns also serve as a means of decoration and fostering unity among diverse communities, contributing to the festive and inclusive spirit of Diwali!
Come join us in making Diyas and lanterns on November 11, 2-5 pm. The crafted Diyas and Lanterns will be a part of the library's Diwali display in the Main Library! Best for ages 9+
