Event Details

This year's 7th Annual Oak Park Community Kwanzaa Celebration will feature poetry, dance, and musical performances in honor of this Black American Harvest celebration. Join us!

  • OPRFHS True Colors will open our celebration with their rendition of the Black National Anthem.
  • Celebrated author Dr. Nnedi Okorafor​​​​​​ is our keynote speaker.
  • Ajani Griffin will perform his Kwanzaa Rap, which is quickly becoming a Kwanzaa classic.
  • Local treasure Sydney Jackson will perform a special solo dance. 
  • A Kwanzaa Market will feature local artisans.
  • A small version of a Karamu (Feast of Kwanzaa) will happen at the end of our program.
  • Baba Nubian Malik will lead the Libation Ceremony.
  • Tara Stamps will return as the emcee for the 4th year.
