"Painting is an adventure, an exploration, and a process of discovery. I believe that journey always has something to offer—sometimes beauty, sometimes peace, and sometimes joy."—Janis Martin

See the artist's work on display in the Main Library Gallery through June 29.

About the artist
Moving to Oak Park in 2019 provided Janis with the opportunity to redesign and refocus her life. One of her priorities was to create a simpler life with a smaller footprint. She now enjoys a car-free life. She has a small studio in Forest Park within walking distance and raises a few vegetables at a community garden. Her next painting adventure will be capturing the new memories she is creating exploring the world around her—not just Oak Park but the wider world that we call home. When not painting Janis spends hours walking around Oak Park, reading good books, having fun with her family and friends—in general enjoying life.

Artist Reception June 8, 6:00PM-7:30PM.  Meet the artist and enjoy light refreshments.
