ARTIST STATEMENT
"I am lifelong artist deeply inspired by movement, changes of light, fleeting feelings, imagined moments, graphic design and global travel.
My work is an expression of the energy and emotions embodied in places and points in time: energy and emotions that are often fleeting and transitional. Often representing the transition between specific states, decisions or actions, such points in time embody the hope of possibility of situations that have yet to happen or echo with the energy of interactions that just happened.
My painting process takes many hours, researching, taking reference photos, and doing initial sketches, then transferring onto canvas or wood panel, building the composition with layers of paint, working to capture the energy of a moment in time on the canvas, and capture the feelings of that fleeting moment. I love to paint using oil and acrylic and also to experiment with Encaustic, Hand Felting and Wax Resist Techniques.
The energy of the world around us fascinate me, the mesmerizing colors of sunlight , energy, and light in darkness. The duality of calm and movement intrigues me." - Ana Vitek
BIO
"I have a long career as a working artist, creating illustrations, animations, for the game industry, educational institutions, horticultural projects and more. I also hold BA in computer graphics and fine art from Columbia College, a Masters in Art from the School of The Art Institute of Chicago and an Associates degree in a Horticulture. I am a strong believer in lifelong education, and specifically in the power of art education.
My work has been exhibited in throughout Chicago area, including the Chicago Cultural Center, and throughout the states, including exhibitions in Colorado, and New York. I have received awards and recognition in a broad range of media including painting, computer graphics, animation, and fiber. My paintings are held by private collectors in the US, and in the UK and Europe." - Ana Vitek
