About the Artist
Phyllis Frick grew up in Oak Park and enjoyed experimenting with many types of art as a child. Collaging takes her back to her childhood when her mother provided her with a collage box in which she saved scraps of wrapping paper, ribbons, cards, buttons, fabric and other things to make art with. She was encouraged to make art of any kind by having her own space in a corner of the family room in the basement.
Circumstances led Frick to several careers outside the world of art. But Frick retired recently and has been able to return to her lifelong passion to be creative. She has been studying at the School of the Art Institute and at the Oak Park Art League for the past five years. She is now teaching art to children at her business Frick Kids Art as well as creating her own paintings, collages and paper mache sculptures. She has exhibited at the Oak Park Art League, The SFA Gallery in Oak Park, Randalls Pub in Chicago and at several local art fairs.
